Today, as I finalize my preparation for the hurricane and keep on the lookout for weather reports, I read of Israeli tanks and soldiers encircling the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia, forcing the perilous evacuation of newborns, the sick, and the injured. As people on the West Coast of Florida bunker down in secure shelters, I read that the Israeli military has forced UNWRA to shut down seven schools and expel those sheltering there. While my community and those around my state prepare for disaster, I can't help but contrast our experience with that of the people in Gaza.
Thank you! Please, take care of yourself, your family and your community in this difficult time ahead.
We watch in shock and helplessness the events that are taking place, at all levels, in your country... and like you elsewhere too...
What matters now, for you, is to ensure your safety and that of your loved ones... I wish you and all the people of your surrounding and state all the best...
Hope you and your family stay safe during the storm. I think you’re extremely right about man-made disasters being harder to bear, and not just because they tend to naturally subside and won’t hunt you down… I think we are created to feel far more injured by intentional harm. If a friend kicks you by accident and says sorry, it might hurt a lot but you won’t care much. If a stranger kicks you on the street while cursing at you, you will probably be deeply affected for days. It’s horrible to feel someone wishes you harm, more horrible to realize other people don’t think you’re worth helping or protecting.
Thanks for your perspective. Coastal flooding contrasted to the destruction of the city of Gaza with 1 million plus inhabitants....all gone. Destroyed by our 30 million $ military aid. FU Israel.
And FU fossil fuel advocatess of devastating climate change.
If you are important or useful to the Empire at the moment, then you will be lavished with assistance, financial and otherwise. Otherwise, you are on your own.
I would advise the people of Florida to become part of Ukraine.
Stay safe, Jeffrey. It's hard not to think of Gaza -- both the incredible suffering and the US's funding and arming of Israel.

Extremely well-said. Thanks.

I hope you and yours stayed safe. The death and destruction by Israel/US/NATO is horrifying. Very sad.
